“A well-deserved winning design” – New generation of Vitocal heat pumps wins renowned iF Gold Design Award

Allendorf (Eder) / Hannover, Germany,  May 26, 2021 – Compact, climate-friendly and with an absolutely stunning design: This is the new generation of Viessmann air/water heat pumps. Powered by green electricity, they produce CO₂-free heat for heating, cooling and DHW generation. All that alongside particularly climate-friendly refrigerants. The wall-mounted and compact devices in the Vitocal 25x-A and Vitocal 2xx-S lines recently won the iF Gold Design Award 2021.

The iF Design Award is awarded once a year and is one of the most renowned design prizes in the world. In their statement, the 98-member independent expert jury not only highlighted the unit’s clear and striking lines but also emphasized that the “Vitocal heat pumps satisfy one of the most immediate needs of our time: heating our homes in this time of environmental crisis. Powered by renewable energy, these units can minimize the carbon footprint of the built environment. A well-deserved winning design!”

Same appearance, different uses

The innovative air/water heat pumps Vitocal 250-A, 250-AH and 252-A are particularly suited to modernization. They are operated with the climate-friendly refrigerant R290 and achieve flow temperatures of 70 °C. Floor heating is not required and the existing radiators can continue to be used. Thanks to their innovative hydraulics, they can be adapted to all conditions in modernization.

The new Vitocal 200-S, 250-SH and 222-S air/water heat pumps are designed especially for new builds. With noise emissions of just 30 dB(A) (noise pressure level of the external unit at a distance of four meters in free-standing installation in noise-reduced mode), they are some of the quietest units of their kind and can be operated hassle-free even in densely built residential areas.

The clear, timeless design of the external units of the new heat pump series blends perfectly into any environment. The precise workmanship, right down to the smallest detail, and the new Vitographit color create a modern, high-quality look.

Both series are highly efficient and generate more than five times the usable energy from one kilowatt-hour of electricity and the heat from the outside air. Thanks to the units’ innovative hydraulic systems, the space required for the system is reduced by up to 60 percent and the installation time is reduced by up to 90 minutes when compared to conventional heat pumps.
