Viessmann Foundation donates EUR 470,000 to Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer
The Viessmann Foundation supports research into future therapies against childhood cancer

Frankfurt, May 8, 2025 – The Viessmann Foundation, which handles all philanthropic activities of Viessmann Generations Group, supports the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer (FF) with a donation of EUR 470,000 over the next three years. For more than 30 years, FF has been committed to improving the medical care and quality of life for children suffering from cancer.
Max Viessmann, CEO of the Viessmann Generations Group, said: "The Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer provides hope for affected children and their families during the most challenging times while also delivering impressive research work. With our donation, we want to support the foundation's efforts and send a signal of solidarity - because for us, sustainable social commitment means taking responsibility for future generations."
Dr. Jürgen Vogt, Chairman of the Board of the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer, said: "The Viessmann Foundation’s donation recognizes our work and provides a valuable foundation for maintaining and expanding our unique cell bank, an invaluable resource for research worldwide. Every single cell can save the life of a child with cancer, each one offers hope for a cure. We sincerely thank the Viessmann Foundation and Mr. Viessmann personally for initiating our long-term partnership to realize our mission: Research to Cure."
The Viessmann Foundation’s donation will support the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer over a period of three years, particularly contributing to the maintenance and further development of the Resistant Cancer Cell Line (RCCL) Collection. The RCCL Collection is a unique cell bank established by the Frankfurt Foundation to study the mechanisms behind therapy resistance in childhood cancers and to develop new, more effective treatments.
The cell lines are stored at minus 196 degrees Celsius in special cryogenic tanks and serve as an indispensable resource for international cancer research. With over 3,000 chemotherapy-resistant cancer cell lines, the RCCL Collection is the largest of its kind worldwide.
Through this donation, the Viessmann Foundation is helping to ensure that the RCCL Collection remains available to researchers around the world and continues to drive the development of personalized, pioneering therapies for children with cancer.
The Viessmann Foundation has been committed for many years to promoting the health and well-being of future generations — particularly in the fight against cancer, with a special focus on research and treatment of childhood cancers. One example is the long-standing partnership with the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), which supports important advances in cancer prevention and therapy.

Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer
The Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer was founded in 1994 by parents of children suffering from cancer. It is a pioneer in pediatric cancer research. Through basic research, the foundation aims to develop new insights and innovative approaches for more effective and gentler therapies in the fight against childhood and adolescent cancers. In its own research center – the Dr. Petra Joh House – the foundation offers research structures at the highest scientific level. The center houses two institutes: The Interdisciplinary Institute for Tumor and Virus Research (IDL), led by Professor Jindrich Cinatl and Professor Martin Michaelis, who established the RCCL Collection. The Institute for Experimental Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (EPHO), an endowed professorship under Professor Dirk Heckl.
The foundation provides up to 60 researchers with state-of-the-art infrastructure, necessary material resources, and personnel support for their important work. As a private, non-profit organization, it relies on donations to support its mission: Research to Cure.
