Forum for municipal climate protection at Viessmann

High-level meeting of experts on the energy and climate situation

Dr. Karsten McGovern (Managing Director of the LandesEnergieAgentur Hessen) made the topic of municipal heat transition transparent in his contribution to the current energy policy situation.

Allendorf (Eder), Nov 8, 2022  – The energy and climate policy goals in Germany are extremely ambitious: By 2050, the Federal Republic is supposed to become almost climate-neutral. This requires a nearly complete conversion of the energy system to regenerative systems. As an environmental pioneer, Viessmann has invited experts to a climate protection forum to jointly discuss ways of achieving the ambitious targets in a socially responsible manner.

The event on November 3, 2022 at the Viessmann headquarters in Allendorf (Eder) brought together representatives from business and industry as well as from municipalities: In addition to climate protection managers from cities and districts, planners and energy consultants with a municipal focus as well as project developers and investors. The more than 100 participants* took part in the event on site or digitally.

The focus of the forum was on mutual exchange, which is why long technical presentations were deliberately avoided. The guests' conclusions were consistently positive. They praised the numerous opportunities to network even more closely and to develop consulting and support options in co-creation. Inspirations from selected participants were very helpful, for example from Dr. Karsten McGovern (Managing Director of the LandesEnergieAgentur Hessen), who in his contribution to the energy policy situation made the topic of municipal heat transformation transparent and tangible.

This led to a lively and open discussion at the end of the event, in which the enormous possibilities of such an exchange were once again emphasized and initial ideas for a follow-up event were already developed.
