Allendorf (Eder), Oct 28,2022  – If we want to keep having winter sports, we need to protect the winter – and the climate. Viessmann is devoting itself to the important topics of sustainability, energy efficiency and environmental protection by extending its winter sports commitments. Looking to the next generation (for example, the Viessmann Junior Team, which competes in the Nordic combined and the biathlon) also reflects Viessman’s purpose, which is to design living spaces for generations to come; this includes tomorrow’s athletes. What started out as technical support for luge legend Georg Hackl, for whom Viessmann made special sled runners, has since become a comprehensive commitment to Nordic skiing.

This is no longer just about traditional company logo visibility, but about joint projects dedicated to increasing sustainability and climate protection. With Viessmann’s expertise, energy efficiency analyses have been conducted at winter sports locations such as Ruhpolding. These enable the generation of targeted savings potential by means of sustainable climate solutions. Concrete implementation of one project is already visible in Oberstdorf, where energy-efficient, carbon-reducing Viessmann solutions are being used to modernize sports facilities for the Nordic World Ski Championships.

Yet the positive changes don’t end there. In fact, they are rounded off by many cooperations with athletes who act as climate ambassadors. They not only promote sustainability in sports, but also reduce their personal carbon footprint by using Viessmann climate solutions at home.

Viessmann is proud to be a climate partner of the IBU and the DSV and to help the FIS achieve its own climate targets. A strong team supporting future climate and sports champions!

Thomas Heim, CEO of Viessmann Climate Solutions, on Viessman’s commitment to winter sports:

“We assume responsibility for sustainable and successful winter sports – for generations of athletes. Viessmann has always been a reliable partner for the ‘next generation,’ from ski clubs to the DSV Junior Team. And we have joined with official organizations and associations to form a true climate alliance for positive change – for example, by helping make world cup winter sports locations such as Ruhpolding and Oberstdorf more energy-efficient with our expertise and climate solutions.

“Added to this are projects like the Biathlon Climate Challenge with the IBU and ViMove that encourage fans to follow various teams – all of them led by biathlon superstars – and their sports activities in Viessmann’s ViMove app. The distances traveled or the time spent is converted into trees that are planted through reforestation projects. This turns winter sports fans into true winter protectors! Together, we’re a big sports family working for positive change!”

Eric Frenzel, Nordic combined champion, says of the DSV climate cooperation:

“For me, Viessmann is more than a sponsor because the company has supported me throughout my life as an athlete. They take responsibility for the next generation, in business and in sports. That makes me proud! I’m not surprised that Viessmann supports the DSV’s climate targets as well as the next generation. That’s just what the Viessmann team does. Assuming responsibility for the next generation is in their DNA! I’m really proud that Viessmann, my partner of many years, not only supports the next generation but also the DSV’s climate targets.”

Olympic and world champion Laura Dahlmeier on the IBU climate cooperation:

“Viessmann began supporting me when I was a young biathlete. It’s important to Viessmann to assume responsibility, whether for the next generation of athletes or for the environment. I’m very glad that Viessmann will also be supporting the IBU with its climate targets, since they have the products and the expertise.”

Ski jumping world champion Markus Eisenbichler adds:

“We all need to assume responsibility for climate protection. Viessmann embraces responsibility, and I’m thrilled that the FIS is getting so much support with its climate targets. One more reason to be proud of my long-term partner, Viessmann!”

Specifically, the sponsorships for these associations and sports have been extended to 2026:

Deutscher Ski Verband:

  • Sponsorship for Nordic coaches and support staff (ski jumping, cross-country, Nordic combined)
