Career

Simon is born in Rhineland-Palatinate – not a renowned winter sports region. Nonetheless, he’s fascinated by the biathlon from a young age. At 12, he gets started in the sport by joining the Biathlon-Team Saarland club, and two years later he transfers to Sportgymnasium Oberhof (a sports high school) to better combine school and training. Starting in 2018, Simon trains with the World Cup elite at the training center in Oberhof.  In addition to his sports training, Simon successfully completes vocational training with the state police in 2020. At the 2021 Junior World Championships in Obertilliach, Austria, he just misses the podium in the sprint with a fourth-place finish. In 2022 he takes part in the European Championships on the Arber and competes in the IBU Cup several times.
