- Role model
My role model has always been my brother, Richard, because he’s a very determined person and puts 100% effort into everything he sets his mind to.
Viessmann has already celebrated a lot of successes with athletes who I looked up to as a young girl. It means a lot to me to be part of this family. With their excellent support, I hope to reach the top ranks.
Selina grows up in a family of ski jumpers: her father Holger is a former ski jumper and her brother Richard is himself active in the sport. At just six years old, Selina also discovers her love for ski jumping. She gets her first international experience in the Alpencup, FIS Cup and Continental Cup, and she lands in an impressive fourth place with the team at her first Junior World Cup in 2018, in Kandersteg, Switzerland. Just a year later, she secures her first victory at the Continental Cup and celebrates the team silver medal and the mixed team bronze at the Junior World Championships in Lahti, Finland. Selina makes her World Cup debut in 2019 and qualifies for the Junior World Ski Championships in Oberwiesenthal in 2020. She celebrates a bronze medal in the team competition right outside her hometown. In the following years she becomes a permanent part of the World Cup team and in 2022 she participates in the Olympic Games for the first time in her career.
First Junior World Championships
In addition to competing well in the Continental Cup and FIS Cup, Selina also competes in her first Junior World Championships in Kandersteg. She just misses the podium and medal ranking by winning fourth place in the team competition, and finishes the individual competition in 19th place.
World Cup debut and a shower of medals in Lahti
Selina comes home from the Junior World Championships in the Finnish city of Lahti with multiple medals. With her team, she becomes a vice junior world champion and secures the bronze in the mixed team event alongside Agnes Reisch, Luca Roth and Constantin Schmid. Her performance is also noticed by the World Cup team coaches, who reward her with her first World Cup appearance in February 2019.
Bronze at home
In the 2019/20 season, Selina completes her first full World Cup season. She has an impressive performance with multiple top-20 finishes. She also qualifies for the Junior World Championships in Oberwiesenthal – a very special moment for her, since the ski jump is just minutes from her hometown. She wins another medal and secures the bronze with both the women’s team and the mixed team. In the individual competition, she misses the podium by a small margin.
Best World Cup finish
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, only a handful of World Cup women’s events take place. Even so, Selina makes a strong impression in Ramsau and achieves her best World Cup result, placing 13th. As in previous years, Selina is an important part of the team at the Junior World Championships in Lahti, Finland. Despite strong performances, they very narrowly miss the podium by winning fifth place.
Permanent part of the World Cup team and Olympic participation
In this season, Selina consistently shows solid performances and thus becomes an integral part of the World Cup team. At the big highlight of the season, the Olympic Games in Beijing, she is consequently allowed to participate and starts there in the individual and mixed team competition.
