At the age of six, Martin is gripped by a passion for ski jumping. He makes his first jumps in Eilenburg, where he soon begins training. Shortly afterwards, his exceptional talent prompts him to transfer to the sports high school in Oberwiesenthal for the better training conditions. Martin is very successful at the Junior World Championships. He wins silver with the team in Almaty in 2015, and he wins another two silver medals two years later at the Junior World Championships in Park City, Utah, USA, in the team and mixed team events. In the next few years, he mainly competes in the Continental Cup, with a few World Cup appearances as well. In the 2020/21 season, he comes out on top against the strong competition in the German team and becomes an integral member of the World Cup team. He celebrates his first World Cup podium appearance alongside his teammates Pius Paschke, Karl Geiger and Markus Eisenbichler in Lahti, Finland, and also competes at the World Championships at home in Oberstdorf.
